Inspired by my grandfather—a Vietnam War veteran who battled chronic health issues long after the war—I founded Solis and Luna Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to using music as a healing force in hospitals and clinics nationwide. I began this journey with a simple yet powerful gesture: playing music for him as a way to connect and uplift his spirits.

Despite modern medicine failing to provide my grandfather meaningful relief, I observed a remarkable transformation when music became part of his care. His mindset improved, his compliance with treatment increased, and his overall health showed tangible signs of recovery. Witnessing this paradigm shift, I realized the immense therapeutic potential of music and set out to replicate this experience for others facing similar challenges.

In 2022, I founded Solis and Luna Arts with a mission to bridge music therapy and healthcare. Over the past two years, the organization has grown exponentially, now boasting over 400 members across 14 states and 8 countries, with 43 regional directors coordinating efforts worldwide. Together, we’ve performed over 80 events annually, ranging from benefit concerts to one-on-one performances for patients with physical and mental health challenges.

At each venue, my team and I take the time to ask patients for song requests, ensuring the music is personally meaningful and amplifying its therapeutic effects. Our efforts have directly engaged with more than 4,500 patients, providing not just entertainment but emotional relief and psychological healing.

My leadership extends beyond performance. I work to educate communities about music therapy through weekly blogs, podcasts, and informational flyers distributed at events. Through this advocacy, Solis and Luna Arts has raised over $16,000 in grants and donations to support our initiatives. The organization has also created a ripple effect, inspiring over 400 young musicians to join the movement.

The impact of my work is evident not only in the heartfelt testimonials from patients and their families but also from the medical staff and community leaders who have witnessed the transformative power of our efforts. Joshua Remland of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center praised Solis and Luna Arts for “creating a peaceful atmosphere” and delivering “mesmerizing performances that touched both residents and staff.” Colin Winch of Englewood Cliffs Upper School commended us for leaving a lasting impression on students, celebrating our musical skill and meaningful connection with audiences. I am also honored to have received the Diana Award from the Kingdom of Wales for my social action work.

Looking ahead, I envision a future where Solis and Luna Arts continues to expand its reach, inspiring youth to embrace social impact and advocating for music therapy as an integral part of modern healthcare. By spreading awareness and fostering a global community of passionate individuals, I hope to drive forward a movement that seeks to heal through harmony and bring hope to those who need it most.

As I continue to grow my organization, my dedication to healthcare advocacy and music therapy reminds me of the power of art to transcend boundaries and change lives.
